Interview with Lisa Landberg
What inspired you to to take this photo?
My partner sometimes complains about my bad habit of leaving the cupboard doors open. He is closing them, only to find them open again the next time he enters the kitchen. He says it’s like having a poltergeist in the apartment…
Your photos are often involving strange lightning and mysterious installations. What’s behind the kitchen cupboard?
One way to interpret this and many of my other photographs, is as a metaphor of the subconscious. Electricity has somehow connected the different parts of this kitchen, making them come to life. Like the synapses and electric impulses of the brain can trigger a forgotten memory. Allusions to the supernatural is a recurring element in my work, where the lighting in my images often seem to indicate some kind of elusive presence. This is my way to make visible the ongoing processes that otherwise never materialise from the world of thought.

Interview with Ilja Karilampi
Where is this picture taken? And what inspired you to create it?
The photo is taken at my headquarter on Ritterstrasse 95 in Berlin. Its been a tryout area for different stickers I´ve made throughout the spring & summer, and their all put on a large sheet of transparent self-adhesive plastic that I brought with me from New York in 2011. That sheet is stuck onto the short side of a black & white Ikea wardrobe. So actually the whole thing can be taken down, without ruining the stickers. Its things I´ve had for a long while that suddenly got assembled. The Ghana stickers, printouts of the Dre brass signs I had made, stills from Hendrix Incident, and the 2013D vinyl sticker on a b/w inkjet photo of concrete, that we also used as the press image for the Gothenburg exhibition.
What does “2013D” mean?
2013D is a way to also see the new year as a new dimension. Its kind of tricky to pronounce, but the easier for the eye to read. Its like earlier visual games & titles I´ve done, like “h00dumentary”, “h13dumentary”, and so on, adjusting with time and the years, like falling leaves or subtile slogans.
